The Problem

The original Halkan.se was built years ago as an experiment on Create React App (CRA), a tool the React team has since deprecated. It was never designed with scale in mind, and as the business grew into Skåne's largest safety school, that showed: the platform became harder to maintain, and every content change or new course listing had to go through the developer directly since the owner had no way to manage it himself.

The Approach

• Rebuilding the platform from the ground up on Next.js, moving off the deprecated Create React App foundation
• Adopting static site generation (SSG) to significantly improve page speed and SEO, both critical since the business's growth has been driven largely by organic search
• Reworking the booking flow to support offering more courses, and eventually expanding into more cities across Skåne
• Building a CMS on Strapi so the owner can edit page content, course details, and pricing himself, without needing a developer for every change

The Results

• Delivered a working Strapi CMS integration, giving the owner direct control over site content for the first time
• Laid the Next.js + SSG foundation needed to keep pace with continued SEO-driven growth

What's Next

Once complete, V2 will let the owner run and grow the business — adding courses and expanding into new cities — largely on his own, instead of routing every change through code.
